There are no consistent rules across a district, tools are being used differently in every school, and the applications to manage any of it barely exist. For superintendents and district leaders, the pressure to get this right is enormous, and the path forward is anything but clear.

How Beni Started

Beni began when Jenna Menking — founder of consumer insights firm Crosswalknyc and previously Black Sheep Social Media (acquired by IPG) — saw classrooms being asked to absorb AI faster than schools could govern it. After 15+ years studying how people learn, decide, and build trust in new technology, she set out to build the missing layer: a governance system that lets districts deploy AI safely.

She partnered with Ali Morgan to turn the idea into a platform. Together they mapped what schools actually needed: a governed AI workspace for students, clear oversight for teachers, and policy-aligned infrastructure for districts. The result is Beni — the governance layer for AI in K-12 schools.
